Lord Ganesha's 14 Interesting (Unknown) Facts
Hinduism is one of the oldest religion in the world lord Ganesha is more beloved and most worshiped than other Gods in Hinduism. Lord Ganesha is also called Ganesh, Ganpati with different 108 name's, before any auspicious work Hindus worshiping Lord Ganesha first. So people wish to seek more information in a nutshell about lord Ganesha, here is my little attempt to define some interesting fact related to Lord Ganesha.
1) Birth of Ganesha
lord Shiva was doing meditation frequently and not want to be disturbed by anyone including Parvati, so she felt very lonely being ignored by her husband, then Parvati collected clay and a molded young man she could image and then breathed life into him and Ganesha was born.
2) Popularity
Lord Ganesha is so popular among other Gods, it is not because of any trick, he received a boon from Lord Shiva when Ganesha got his elephant head from lord Shiva.
3) "Ganesh Jayanti" and "Ganesh Chaturthi"
What is Ganesh Jayanti and Ganesh Chaturthi, Ganesh Jayanti is also known as "Maghi" Ganpati this is an auspicious day dedicated to Lord Ganesha falls in January or February month. This is believed that on this day his birth took place.
Ganesh Chaturthi is also called Ganesh "Utsav". This is believed that on this day Lord Shiva gave elephant head to Ganesha and declared him as a superior to all gods.
Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated all over India but largely celebrated in Maharashtra was started by freedom fighter Lokmanya Tilak in 1893.
4) Another name of Ganesha
Ganesha is called with 108 different names well-known name's are as follows
"Gajanan" having an elephant face (Sanskrit meaning of Gaja is an elephant).
"Heramba" one who is near to his mother.
"Vinayaka" one who is a leader.
"Ekdanta" one with one tusk ( one-toothed ).
"Vakratunda" one with a curved trunk.
"Lambodar" one with a pot or hanging belly.
"Vinayaka" one who is the best owner of success.
"Vighnaharta" one who demolishes obstacles.
5) Ganesha as writer
Very new are knowing the writing ability of Ganesha, he had written the entire Mahabharata poem on the request of great Sage Vyasa.
6) Snake around belly
After having belly full meal of laddoos Ganesha was returning home on his Mount (vehicle) the mouse, suddenly mouse is startled by the snake, Frightened mouse dropped Ganesha and ran away, Ganesha fell down then he stood up and tied aforesaid snake around his the belly. Moon had witnessed all and laughed, Ganesha in anger broke his tusk and threw it at the moon.
7) No Tulsi (Holy Basil) in Ganesha prayer
Tulsi plant got a place in almost all worship but excluded from Ganesha worship, because Tulsi once cursed Ganesha when he refused to marry her, in return, Ganesha also cursed her from being not linked with his worship.

Ganesha marriage was fixed with "Riddhi" and "Siddhi" i.e Ganesha had two wives and two sons "Shubh" and "Labh" according to Shiva Maha Purana.

There are different Stories related to broken tusk of Ganesha,
A) one day Ganesha was guarding his father who was in deep meditation, at that time sage Parashuram came to visit but stopped by Ganesha, Parshuram was known for serious temper as result threw axe towards Ganesha, that axe hitted Ganesha's tusk and tusk broked.
B) While writing Mahabharata Ganesha's pen was broked and to continue writing, Ganesha broke his tusk used it as the pen.
C) After having belly full meal of laddoos Ganesha was returning home on his Mount (vehicle) the mouse, suddenly mouse is startled by the snake, Frightened mouse dropped Ganesha and ran away, Ganesha fell down then he stood up and tied aforesaid snake around the belly.
